CCC Activation

The ARES group set up this year at the Hill City CCC Museum on August 11th.  There was a fair amount of participation, with a number of hams stopping by during the day.  We tried two antennas and a few power sources, including a generator, batteries, and solar.  The bands were a bit on the poor side, but there was a lot of rag chewing right right in the operating booth.

Emergency Preparedness Fair

The ARES group participated in this year’s fair on September 9th.  It was a pleasant day for an outdoor activity.  The bands were poor, but we were able to hear some CW that provided a background for talking to folks about all that amateur radio has to offer and our roll in emergency communications.

Portable Dipole Centers

Here are the 3D-printable dipole center files.  There is one with mounts for tubes and one with mounts for circular ends. Simply download a file to a flash drive and take it to the Rapid City library for printing.  It costs about $5 for the materials.  Make sure you ask for ABS plastic and “no supports.”  It takes about 3 hours to print.
